The living room and study
This was one long room and would originally have been the front and back parlours divided by a wide doorway, possibly with pocket doors. We decided to split it into an independent living room and study.
After having the gas safely disconnected, we removed the old gas logs from the fireplace. At some point the chimney was terminated in the attic (probably when the roof was last re-done) and the fireplace is now unsafe to use.
The front porch leading into the living room lost its lino floor and built-in cupboard. It's now more open and has a reclaimed wooden floor complete with inlay to match the rest of the downstairs.
