The kitchen
This was definitely the largest project. The whole kitchen was gutted and re-built, including taking down the sheetrock and shiplap to expose the brick chimney. Several different layers of flooring were removed, levelled and new wooden flooring laid down. The washer and dryer were moved from their station in front of the small octagonal window and new appliances just fitted into the below-stairs cupboard where the new downstairs A/C unit takes up less space than the old one did. We changed out the old water heater for a smaller tankless model, then redesigned the layout of the rest of the kitchen. Finally, a new back door was fitted to let in more light.
The worst part about re-doing the kitchen was the length of time it took to be completed, but it was definitely worth waiting for. The new kitchen really is a pleasure to use.
