Dr and Mrs Rock

Grecia

We spent our final few days in Costa Rica in Grecia, close to San José. It's near to the airport but meant we didn't have to stay in the capital. We'd planned lots of day trips to interesting looking places but ended up spending three days within emergency running distance of the toilet, before finally going to see a doctor. He diagnosed "tourist tummy" and gave us each a shot of antibiotics in the bum and a good supply of pills which sorted us out just in time for the flight to New Zealand.

Eating

Vista del Valle Plantation Lodge

The food looked superb - if only we'd been in a condition to enjoy it! I should point out that we brought our illnesses with us, most likely from Arenal; totally unrelated to the food at Vista del Valle.

Sleeping

Vista del Valle Plantation Lodge

Slightly pricey but absolutely gorgeous individual cottages in the middle of a plantation. Stunning location on the very edge of the Rio Grande Canyon, completely peaceful and relaxing.

Photos

One very shaky shot of a motmot that landed right outside our room is all we managed to take during our stay - it's really not worth sharing!
