Dr and Mrs Rock

Costa Rica

We spent August and September of 2003 in Costa Rica, mainly surfing but we did drag ourselves away from the beach to see some volcanoes and cloud forest reserves. It's quite a small country and we were able to drive everywhere without any problem, although a 4WD vehicle is a must unless you're sticking strictly to the Pan-American Highway.

The Ticos were very friendly, the pace of life laid back and the country beautiful. We were amazed at the biodiversity and the ease with which it's possible to see even quite large mammals in the wild as well as countless kinds of birds, insects and plants. Of course the geology is also breathtaking.
